Gay Friendly Hotel Brighton
Sea Breeze Gay Friendly Hotel, Upper Rock Gardens, Brighton

www.seabreezebrighton.com

Amongst a row of neat period townhouses is where you will find this stunning small hotel. After being welcomed by a friendly member of staff I met Karl, the friendly, professional
and enthusiastic owner whose talent for style was evident everywhere: incredibly comfortable beds, a stunning selection of rooms, thoughtful little touches which are so important for making you feel that you have made the right choice. All this is wrapped with contemporary decor and furnishings that simply ooze a soft, minimalist panache. Amongst all this obvious style and comfort which drifts effortlessly throughout this sparkling and immaculately clean hotel, it is the friendly helpful and professional service from Karl and his enthusiastic friendly team of staff that makes staying here at The Sea Breeze Brighton something you will almost certainly wish to do again very soon.

 Gay Friendly Hotel Brighton
Paskins Gay Friendly Hotel, Charlotte Street, Brighton

www.paskins.co.uk

On my arrival at the Art Nouveau reception I was welcomed by a happy smiley member of staff who showed me to one of the 19 rooms, each of which are individual in design and perhaps a little quirky but not at the expense of being comfortable. I cannot decide which aspect of Paskins I find most appealing, whether it is the two fine town houses it occupies or the vibrant palette of the decor. There is of course the famous Art Deco breakfast room which is simply stunning, the individuality of the bedrooms, the amazingly good food and Susan and Roger's incredible passion to operate Paskins in an ethically responsible way without detriment to their guests' comfort or the environment. I know that it is now very vogue to make such claims, but these guys have been practising this for the last fifteen years. The breakfast room is special and it is easy to understand why so many Art Deco aficionados pay unconditional homage here. The menu provides an astonishing variety of imaginative vegetarian and vegan delights, 3 fishy dishes, a full English to die for and some intriguing specials. How cool can it be to arrive and relax in such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere that bears not a hint of dust nor slavish attitudes to style?  This is where Vivienne Westwood perhaps met Amelia Earhart.

Gay Friendly Budget Hostel Hotel Brighton
Kipps Gay Friendly Hostel Hotel, Grand Parade, Brighton

www.kipps-brighton.com

Kipps Brighton is a small quirky but incredibly friendly hotel come hostel which provides perhaps some of the cheapest accommodation in Brighton. So if you are on a budget, Kipps is the place for you. It provides clean, comfortable accommodation with double, single and dorm-type rooms, all
of which have shower and wash hand-basin facilities. Although Kipps is a budget no-frills place to stay, the facilities are very good: licensed bar, outside terrace, lounge area with DVD, Nintendo Wii, digital television and free Internet access. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hostel. Whilst Kipps provides budget accommodation, their claim to fame is that they are the only hotel hostel that overlooks the Royal Pavilion and is
just a short stroll from many of Brighton's major attractions: Museum, Art Gallery, the theatres Royal and Dome, not forgetting the famous pier. Lee who heads the friendly Kipps team is a friendly guy and very modest to boot, so don't take everything you read on his website at face value. He and his friendly team also own Kipps Canterbury which was voted the highest rated hostel in England for 2008, so they know their stuff.

Gay Friendly Hotel Brighton
Brighton Pavilions Gay Friendly Hotel, Charlotte Street, Brighton

www.brightonpavilions.com

I wonder what Queen Victoria would have made of the replica of her four-poster bed lavishly swagged with silk drapes and crowned with ostrich feathers in a large room with a gorgeous draped bay window from where you get a cheeky views of the sea. The walls are hung with portraits of Victoria's family and the marble fireplace and salon chairs are the crowning glory of this decadent and unashamedly camp piece of theatre and just like the other rooms, it is just sensational. Breakfasting amongst the potted greenery in the elegant Palm Court Dining Room completes the illusion that Ken and Phill have worked so hard to achieve in their super and wonderfully delicious camp hotel in Kemp Town. Well done you two.
